Seventeenth International Conference of Emerging Researchers in Heritage

Call for Papers

The call for papers for the 17th International Conference of Emerging Researchers in Heritage, to be held in Quebec from 15 to 18 June 2028, is now open and will remain open until 1 March 2027.

The 17th International Conference of Emerging Researchers in Heritage is devoted to industrial heritage, long overlooked by conservation policies. This year’s edition invites refl ection on how this heritage narrative is built : the community and institutional dynamics behind it, the absences and exclusions it may conceal, the trajectories of adaptive reuse and transformation of sites, and the methodological and ethical questions raised by research into working-class life.
Interdisciplinary and open to creative and artistic approaches, the 17th Conference brings together early-career researchers from all disciplines and countries around a single question : how can industrial heritage become a tool for addressing the legacies of deindustrialization?

The conference “Industrial Heritage: Territories, Memories, Revitalisation” is organised with the support of the Canada Research Chair in Urban Heritage. The conference’s scientific direction is led by Marie Delisle, a PhD candidate at EHESS and a member of Géographie-cités.

Proposals should be submitted by email to [patrimoine@uqam.ca](mailto:patrimoine@uqam.ca)by 1 March 2027 and must be included in a single document comprising: a title, a 500-word abstract, and a short biographical note.
Sensory and artistic approaches (photography, film, dance, literature, etc.) are also welcome.
