Missions
The research program “Cities along the New Silk Roads in Southeast Asia” hires a postdoctoral researcher to conduct investigations on the role of Chinese capitals, actors, and models placed under the umbrella of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in urban production in one of the countries of Southeast Asia.
The postdoctoral researcher will develop one case study that will contribute to the research theme of the research project (for more information, please see the link provided here below).
Please note that we presently offer a 6 months work contract, but a request for an extension to 12 months has already been addressed to the funding agency.

Activities
– Conduct fieldwork investigations in one country of Southeast Asia
– Prepare one scientific paper together with the project’s team members.
– Participate in the team’s work.
Skills
Candidates must :
– hold a PhD degree in one of the following fields : urban studies, geography, sociology, anthropology, or economy;
– have already acquired fieldwork experience in Southeast Asia or China;
– be fluent in English ;
– have language skills (B1 or superior) in one of the languages of Southeast Asia or alternatively Chinese;
– be autonomous and take initiatives on the field;
– be available to work and publish with team members.
Work Context
The selected postdoctoral research will be hosted by the UMR Géographie-Cités (8504) and will be supervised by the project coordinator, Adèle ESPOSITO ANDUJAR and the other team members. The postdoctoral research will also conduct fieldwork in Southeast Asia.
Constraints and risks
Risks will be assessed by the CNRS Fonctionnaire Sécurité Défense (FSD).
