My research studies the past and present of energy transitions, infrastructure, and environments in urban contexts.

I hold a joint PhD in urban studies from the Institut national de la recherche scientifique and in history from Sorbonne Université. My thesis looked at the social and material consequences of urban energy transitions in Montréal between 1945 and 1980. It studied topics like wood and coal yards, gas stations, oil refineries, energy demand forecasts, and urban heating. My thesis received the Prix Jean-Pierre Collin for best doctoral thesis in urban studies and the Centre Urbanisation Culture Société prize for best doctoral thesis.

My postdoctoral work, financed by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Fonds de recherche du Québec société et culture, compares waste incineration projects between Montréal and Paris. I am also currently working on the contamination and deindustrialization of urban energy landscapes.
