Mengcheng LI is a Ph.D. student in geography at the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University (UMR 8504 Géographie-cités) under the supervision of Natacha Aveline. His thesis explores the dynamics of a small city emblematic of a strong ambition for growth, which seeks to implement an appropriate model of sustainable development distinguished from that of large cities. This strategy is based on the realization of a national park, in the framework of a Franco-Chinese cooperation that increases the visibility of the urban project and gives access to new resources. This thesis aims to examine the capacity of this small city to develop the “green” economic growth model by relying on its natural heritage.
