Nadine Roudil, sociologist, Professor at the university and a member of the Géographie-cités research unit, is currently hosted by the UChicago-CNRS HumanitiesPlus International Research Laboratory (IRL) at the University of Chicago, as part of a three-month CNRS international mobility grant.
One of the IRL’s first visiting researchers in 2024, she has returned with a research project examining the role of masculinities in energy transition processes in the United States, with a particular focus on the role of neoliberal technocentrism in Chicago and Tucson. Following her stay at the HumanitiesPlus IRL, she will continue her research with the Iglobes Lab team at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Nadine Roudil, Professor of Sociology at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture de Paris-Val de Seine and a researcher at the Centre de recherche sur l’habitat (CNRS), conducts research on urban design and lifestyles in the context of the energy transition. Her publications include Usages sociaux de la déviance. Habiter la Castellane sous le regard de l’institution (2011), Villes, territoires et énergies : enjeux et défis actuels (2017), as well as the edited volumes Inégalité d’appropriation du logement et de l’habitat (2022) and The Future of Cities and Energies in Western Europe (2024), which she co-edited.
The UChicago-CNRS HumanitiesPlus IRL is a joint research center dedicated to fostering collaborative research between the University of Chicago and the CNRS in the humanities and social sciences.
The Iglobes IRL (Interdisciplinary and Global Environmental Studies) is an international and interdisciplinary research laboratory established in 2008 through an agreement between the University of Arizona (UA) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS-INSHS/INEE). In 2018, the agreement was expanded to include the École Normale Supérieure in Paris as a third partner. Iglobes is hosted by the University of Arizona’s Biosphere 2 department and is located on the university’s main campus in Tucson.
