Wealth Inequalities and the Dynamics of Housing Market.Interpreting real-estate market-based regime of spatial inequalities

How do welfare state reform, market volatility and inflation affect the geography of inequalities in housing markets? Since the 1990s, prices have risen faster than incomes, becoming a factor of polarisation and vulnerability. This ANR programme (2019 – 2022) analyses the link between socio-spatial inequality and capitalization, instability and vulnerability of markets.

It aims to answer a number of questions, including (but not limited to) the purchasing power of homebuyers in different socio-professional categories and residential sub-markets, as well as the geographical access and inclusion of these buyers in different housing finance regimes, and the spatial patterns of mobility correlated with the purchasing process.

Renaud Le Goix, professor at the Université Paris Cité and member of the UMR Géographie-cités, is responsible for the programme within the UMR, which also involves atacha Aveline-DubachMarianne GuéroisLuc Guibard.
